7 Myths about Domestic Violence

Domestic Violence is a traumatic and laboursome experience. It can affect women, men, and children. In this article we hope to show you some of the myths associated with domestic violence:

1. Domestic Violence affects only a few individuals reported in the newspapers and televesion : wrong.
2. Women are the only victims of domestic violence: wrong.
3. Domestic violence problems should only be tackled within the home environment: wrong.
4. It affects younger women, and is not associated with older women: wrong.
5. It is only apparent in heterosexual relationships : wrong.
6. Domestic violence issues are something that happens in poor or needy families: wrong.
7. It is a problem that stems from problems in our society: wrong.
